Fouzi Lekjaa, the president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), has publicly expressed his support for the Moroccan U17 national team, known as the Lionceaux, ahead of the 2026 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) scheduled to be hosted in Morocco.
During a meeting with the team's coaching staff and players, Lekjaa emphasized the importance of the tournament and the federation's commitment to providing all necessary resources for the team's preparation. The CAN U17 is a key competition for developing young talent and qualifying for the FIFA U17 World Cup.
Morocco was awarded the hosting rights for the 2026 CAN U17 by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in 2025. The tournament is expected to take place across several Moroccan cities, showcasing the country's football infrastructure.
Lekjaa's visit and words of encouragement are part of a broader strategy to strengthen Morocco's youth football programs, following the senior team's historic performance at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
