PETALING JAYA: Malaysian shuttlers Lee Zii Jia and Goh Jin Wei have failed to make the cut for the 2026 BWF World Championships, scheduled to be held in New Delhi, India from August 17 to 23. The Badminton World Federation (BWF) released the phase one eligibility list on May 5, 2026, confirming the absence of both players.
Lee Zii Jia, who had participated in the World Championships for five consecutive editions since 2021, will miss the tournament for the first time in six years. His ranking and qualification points were insufficient to secure a spot in the 64-player men's singles draw.
Goh Jin Wei, a former world junior champion, also failed to qualify for the women's singles event. The 26-year-old has struggled with injuries and inconsistent form in recent seasons, impacting her world ranking.
The World Championships in New Delhi will feature top shuttlers from around the world, including defending champions from the 2025 edition. Malaysian fans will have to look to other national players for representation at the event.
