The Lee County Sheriff's Office released its annual crime report for 2025 on June 12, 2026. According to the report, overall crime in the county decreased by 5% compared to 2024, with notable reductions in property crimes and violent offenses.
Sheriff Carmine Marceno stated that the decrease is attributed to increased community policing efforts and targeted enforcement in high-crime areas. The report highlights a 10% drop in burglaries and a 7% decline in aggravated assaults.
However, the report also noted a slight increase in cybercrime reports, which rose by 3% from the previous year. The Sheriff's Office has launched a public awareness campaign to educate residents on online safety.
