The Lagos State chapter of Nigeria's ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has stated that the country's democracy will not be undermined if opposition parties, including the African Democratic Congress (ADC), fail to appear on the ballot in forthcoming elections. The party made the declaration in a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Seye Oladejo, on April 6, 2026.

Oladejo's comments were a direct response to recent remarks by ADC Chairman Ralphs Okey Nwosu, who had alleged that the APC was attempting to exclude other parties from the electoral process. The APC spokesperson dismissed these claims, asserting that the ruling party remains confident in its record and popularity with voters.

The statement emphasized that Nigeria's democratic institutions are robust and that the absence of any single party from an election does not constitute a threat to the overall system. This exchange highlights ongoing political tensions in Lagos State, a key stronghold for the APC, as the country prepares for future electoral cycles.
