Congress leader Komatireddy Venkatreddy has stated that the Indian National Congress will remain in power in Telangana for the next 20 years. He made the claim while addressing a public meeting, positioning his party as the stable alternative to the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government.
Venkatreddy cautioned that Telangana would face a financial crisis if the BRS were to return to power. He criticized the BRS's decade-long rule, alleging it had mismanaged state finances and left a legacy of debt. The Congress party won the state assembly elections in late 2023, ending the BRS's tenure.
Political analysts note that such long-term predictions are common in Indian political rhetoric, especially from incumbent parties. The claim comes as the state government, led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, works to implement its election promises, including financial assistance schemes.
The BRS has dismissed the comments as political posturing, asserting that the public will judge the Congress government on its performance in delivering development and welfare.
