Kuala Lumpur will host a major running event on May 9, 2026, prompting authorities to announce road closures and traffic diversions. Motorists are advised to plan their travel to avoid congestion in the city center.
The event, which includes a marathon and half-marathon, will start and finish at Dataran Merdeka. Roads along the route, including Jalan Tun Perak, Jalan Ampang, and Jalan Sultan Ismail, will be closed in phases from early morning until midday.
Police and traffic wardens will be deployed to manage traffic flow. Alternative routes via Jalan Kuching, Jalan Ipoh, and the Duta–Ulu Klang Expressway (DUKE) are recommended for motorists heading to the city center.
Public transport services, including LRT and MRT lines, will operate as usual, with increased frequency expected during peak hours. Participants and spectators are encouraged to use public transport to reduce traffic impact.
For the latest updates, road users can check the official Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) website or the event's social media channels.
