Jasveen Sangha, a drug dealer known as the "Ketamine Queen," was sentenced on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, to 15 years and eight months in federal prison for her role in the fatal ketamine overdose of Friends actor Matthew Perry. U.S. District Judge Mark Scarsi handed down the sentence in Los Angeles, holding Sangha responsible for supplying the dose of ketamine that killed Perry on October 28, 2023.
Perry, 54, was found unresponsive in the pool at his Los Angeles home. An autopsy determined he died from the acute effects of ketamine. Investigators found that Sangha had supplied large quantities of ketamine to Perry in the days leading up to his death, operating what prosecutors described as a sophisticated drug distribution network from her home.
Sangha was convicted at trial in August 2024 on charges including distribution of ketamine resulting in death — the most serious charge among the five defendants prosecuted in connection with Perry's death. She maintained her innocence throughout the proceedings and was the only defendant to go to trial rather than accept a plea deal.
Four other individuals previously pleaded guilty in connection with Perry's death, including two doctors — Salvador Plasencia and Mark Chavez — as well as Perry's personal assistant Kenneth Iwamasa and another drug dealer, Erik Fleming. Prosecutors said Perry had been administered ketamine injections multiple times in the weeks before his death, with those around him enabling his addiction despite knowing the risks.
The case drew widespread attention to the dangers of ketamine misuse and the legal accountability of those who supply controlled substances that result in death. Perry, who had been open about his long struggles with addiction, had reportedly been receiving ketamine infusion therapy for depression before obtaining the drug through illicit channels.
