Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania have been selected as the joint hosts for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), according to the Confederation of African Football (CAF). This will be the first time three nations co-host the tournament, which is scheduled to take place in June and July 2027.
The bid, named 'East Africa Pamoja,' was approved by CAF's Executive Committee on July 1, 2026. The three countries will share hosting duties across multiple cities, including Nairobi, Kampala, and Dar es Salaam. CAF President Patrice Motsepe stated that the decision aims to promote football development in the region.
Infrastructure preparations are underway, with Kenya planning to renovate the Kasarani Stadium and Uganda upgrading the Mandela National Stadium. Tanzania will use the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam. The tournament is expected to boost tourism and regional integration.
