Police in Karnataka's Chikkamagaluru district have arrested a man for allegedly assaulting his wife and running over her with a sports utility vehicle (SUV). The incident occurred in the Koppa taluk on March 25, 2026.
According to police reports, the accused, identified as 35-year-old Manjunath, attacked his wife, 30-year-old Shilpa, following a domestic argument. After assaulting her, he reportedly got into his Mahindra Thar SUV and drove it over her before fleeing the scene.
Local residents alerted authorities, and the injured woman was rushed to a hospital in Koppa. She sustained serious injuries but is reported to be in stable condition. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
