Kai Havertz, the German striker, has reflected on Chelsea's 1-0 victory over Manchester City in the 2021 UEFA Champions League final, held on May 29, 2021, at the Estádio do Dragão in Porto, Portugal. Havertz scored the only goal of the match in the 42nd minute, securing Chelsea's second Champions League title.
In a recent interview, Havertz described the experience as 'unreal' and said it is something he will never forget. He noted that watching the final as a fan is special, but playing in it and winning is beyond imagination.
The goal came from a long ball by goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, which was headed on by Timo Werner to Havertz, who rounded City goalkeeper Ederson and slotted into an empty net. Chelsea's defense held firm in the second half to secure the win under manager Thomas Tuchel.
Havertz, who joined Chelsea from Bayer Leverkusen in 2020 for a reported fee of £71 million, has since moved to Arsenal in 2023. He remains a key player for the German national team.
