Norwegian paint and coatings specialist Jotun has signed a memorandum of understanding with Morocco's Ministry of Industry and Trade to build a new production unit in the Casablanca-Settat region. The agreement was signed on Thursday, June 11, 2026, according to a ministry statement.
The investment is valued at 100 million Moroccan dirhams (approximately $10 million). The factory will produce paints and coatings for the local and regional markets, supporting Jotun's expansion in North and West Africa.
Jotun, headquartered in Sandefjord, Norway, operates in over 100 countries and has several factories in Africa, including in Egypt and South Africa. The new plant is expected to create jobs and boost local manufacturing capacity.
Morocco has been actively seeking foreign direct investment in industrial sectors, and this project aligns with its strategy to develop the chemicals and materials industry. The ministry did not specify a timeline for construction or production start.
