French-born defender Jordan Lefort has received his first call-up to the Mauritania national team and is in line to make his debut in a high-profile friendly against world champions Argentina. The 31-year-old, who plays for French Ligue 2 club Amiens SC, is eligible through his Mauritanian father.

The Mauritanian Football Federation (FFRIM) confirmed the squad list for the upcoming March international window, which includes the match against Argentina scheduled for Monday, March 24, 2026, in Beijing, China. This will be Mauritania's first-ever encounter with the South American giants.

Lefort, who has spent his entire professional career in France, expressed his eagerness to join the squad. In verified comments to the press, he stated, "I am very proud and impatient to discover the selection, to meet the staff and my future teammates."

The match is part of Mauritania's preparations for their upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign. Argentina, led by Lionel Scaloni, will use the fixture as part of their own build-up to defending their World Cup title in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
