Two-time Olympic gold medalist Jerry Tuwai has been appointed as an assistant coach for the Fiji men's rugby sevens team, according to an announcement by the Fiji Rugby Union on April 29, 2026.
Tuwai, 36, will work alongside head coach Osea Kolinisau, a former teammate and fellow Olympic champion. The appointment marks a transition for Tuwai, who retired from international sevens rugby in 2024 after leading Fiji to gold medals at the 2016 Rio Olympics and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
In his new role, Tuwai will focus on player development and tactical preparation, particularly for the upcoming World Rugby Sevens Series and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. He expressed enthusiasm about mentoring the next generation of Fijian sevens players.
