University of Tennessee cornerback Jermod McCoy, who was projected as a first-round draft choice, will let team doctors decide if he needs another knee surgery, according to sources. The decision comes after a medical recheck revealed potential issues with his knee.
McCoy's draft stock fell significantly after the medical concerns emerged. The Las Vegas Raiders ended his long wait by trading up to select him with the first pick of the fourth round, No. 107 overall, in the 2026 NFL Draft.
McCoy, a 6-foot, 195-pound cornerback, started 12 games for the Volunteers in 2025, recording 3 interceptions and 8 pass breakups. He was considered a potential first-round talent before the medical recheck.
βIβm going to let the team doctors make that call,β McCoy said of the potential surgery. βThey know whatβs best for my career long-term.β
The Raiders are expected to evaluate McCoy's knee further before making a final decision on surgery. If he requires the procedure, his rookie season could be delayed.
