Moroccan telecommunications operator inwi has signed a partnership agreement with China Mobile International, one of the world's leading telecommunications groups, to design, deploy, and operate Morocco's first private 5G network for industrial use. The agreement was signed in Marrakech, marking a significant milestone in Morocco's digital infrastructure development.
Private 5G networks differ from public mobile networks in that they are dedicated to a specific organization or industrial site, offering higher reliability, lower latency, and enhanced security. These characteristics make them particularly suited for industrial applications such as smart manufacturing, logistics automation, and connected infrastructure management.
The partnership between inwi and China Mobile International positions Morocco as a pioneer in industrial 5G deployment on the African continent. inwi, which is one of Morocco's three major telecom operators, has been actively investing in next-generation network infrastructure as part of broader national digitalization efforts.
China Mobile International, the international arm of China Mobile β one of the world's largest telecommunications companies by subscriber base β brings significant expertise in 5G network design and deployment to the project. The collaboration is expected to accelerate Morocco's transition toward Industry 4.0 standards and support the country's ambitions as a regional technology hub.
