Cameroon's women's national football team, the Indomitable Lionesses, have arrived in Morocco to begin their preparations for the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). The team landed in Rabat on July 16, 2026, and will be based there during the tournament.
The 2026 WAFCON is scheduled to take place in Morocco from July 18 to August 8, 2026. This marks the second consecutive edition hosted by Morocco, following the 2022 tournament. Twelve teams are competing, divided into three groups of four.
Cameroon is placed in Group B alongside Zambia, Tunisia, and Mali. The Lionesses are aiming to improve on their 2022 performance, where they reached the quarterfinals before being eliminated by Nigeria. The team's preparations include training sessions and friendly matches in Rabat.
The squad features key players such as captain Christine Manie and forward Ajara Nchout, who have been instrumental in the team's recent campaigns. The coaching staff, led by head coach Gabriel Zabo, has emphasized tactical discipline and physical readiness.
The tournament opener will feature hosts Morocco against an opponent yet to be determined, with Cameroon's first match scheduled for July 21 against Tunisia. The top two teams from each group, along with the two best third-placed teams, will advance to the quarterfinals.
