India and New Zealand are set to sign a long-pending trade pact on Monday, with 70% of Indian goods expected to receive duty-free access to the New Zealand market, according to Union Minister Piyush Goyal. The agreement is anticipated to boost exports from key sectors including leather, handloom, handicrafts, and MSMEs.
Goyal stated that the pact will enhance bilateral trade and provide significant opportunities for Indian exporters. The deal, which has been under negotiation for several years, aims to reduce tariffs and streamline trade procedures between the two nations.
New Zealand is a major market for Indian goods, and the duty-free access is expected to make Indian products more competitive. The agreement also covers services and investment, though specific details are yet to be released. The signing ceremony is scheduled for Monday, April 27, 2026.
