TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) — The suspect in a fatal shooting at a fast-food restaurant in Idaho died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said Sunday, crediting an off-duty officer and a citizen with firing shots that diverted him.
Investigators said the suspect, who has not been identified, opened fire at the restaurant on Saturday, killing one person and injuring another. An off-duty police officer and an armed citizen exchanged gunfire with the suspect, which police say helped stop the attack.
The suspect was found dead at the scene with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to police. The injured victim was taken to a local hospital and is in stable condition.
Authorities are still investigating the motive and have not released the names of those involved. The incident has shaken the community, and police have offered counseling for witnesses.
