The Iberia Group, which includes Iberia, Iberia Express, and Air Nostrum, has unveiled its most ambitious summer schedule for 2026. The airline alliance plans to offer more than 21 million seats between March and October, representing a 9% increase compared to its 2025 summer operations.
The expansion is focused on strengthening connections from its Madrid hub to North America and Africa. New long-haul routes for summer 2026 will include direct flights from Madrid to Washington Dulles and to the Moroccan city of Tangier. The airline will also increase frequencies on popular routes to destinations like Miami, Boston, and Chicago.
Within Europe, Iberia Express will add capacity on routes to Italy, France, and Northern Europe. The group states the expanded schedule is a response to sustained demand for travel following the industry's recovery in previous years.
The announcement aligns with the broader trend of airlines expanding their summer schedules to meet passenger demand. Iberia's parent company, International Airlines Group (IAG), has reported strong financial results in recent quarters, supporting fleet and network investments.
