Nikolaj Ehlers has found a new level of success with the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2025-26 NHL season. Acquired in a trade from the Winnipeg Jets, Ehlers has posted 28 goals and 45 assists for 73 points in 72 games, according to NHL.com statistics as of May 13, 2026.
Analyst Adam Vingan noted that the Hurricanes' system has unlocked Ehlers' full potential. 'He's been given more ice time and responsibility, and it shows in his playmaking,' Vingan said in a recent analysis.
Ehlers' 45 assists are a career high, surpassing his previous best of 38 in 2023-24 with Winnipeg. His 73 points also set a new personal record, beating his 61-point season in 2022-23.
The Hurricanes, who finished second in the Metropolitan Division, have benefited from Ehlers' speed and creativity. His plus-minus rating of +18 is among the team's best, reflecting his two-way contributions.
