Hervé Renard has been reappointed as head coach of the Ivory Coast national football team, the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) announced on August 5, 2026. Renard previously led the Elephants to victory at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The 57-year-old Frenchman returns after a stint with the French women's national team, which he left earlier this year. His appointment comes as the Ivory Coast prepares for the 2027 AFCON qualifiers, with the team currently in a rebuilding phase.
Renard is known for his success with African national teams, having also won the AFCON with Zambia in 2012. He will be expected to bring stability and tactical discipline to a squad that has underperformed in recent tournaments.
The FIF did not disclose the length of the contract, but local media report it runs until after the 2027 AFCON, which will be hosted by Ivory Coast.
