According to a report from TSN, Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck would be willing to waive his no-movement clause to facilitate a trade to the Edmonton Oilers. The report, citing unnamed sources, indicates that Hellebuyck has not formally requested a trade but is open to the possibility of joining Edmonton.
Hellebuyck, 33, has spent his entire NHL career with the Jets since being drafted in the fifth round in 2012. He won the Vezina Trophy as the NHL's top goaltender in 2020 and 2023, and he remains under contract with Winnipeg through the 2027-28 season with an average annual value of $8.5 million, according to CapFriendly.
The Oilers have been searching for a long-term solution in goal. Starter Stuart Skinner has shown flashes but inconsistency, and the team has not advanced past the second round of the playoffs since 2022. Acquiring Hellebuyck would require significant salary-cap maneuvering, as Edmonton currently has limited cap space.
Winnipeg general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff has not commented publicly on the report. The Jets are coming off a 2025-26 season in which they missed the playoffs for the first time since 2021. Hellebuyck posted a .910 save percentage and a 2.75 goals-against average in 58 games last season.
Any trade would likely require Edmonton to part with multiple high draft picks and prospects. The Oilers have not made a trade for a goaltender of Hellebuyck's caliber since acquiring Dwayne Roloson in 2006. As of now, no trade is imminent, and both teams have declined to comment on the speculation.
