The Harwood Museum of Art, part of the University of New Mexico (UNM) and located in Taos, has acquired the Peyton Wright Gallery building in Santa Fe. The purchase was finalized in early 2026, according to museum officials.
The building, located on East Palace Avenue in Santa Fe's historic district, will be used to expand the Harwood Museum's exhibition and programming space. The acquisition allows the museum to increase its presence in Santa Fe, a major arts hub.
Peyton Wright Gallery, which had operated in the space for over 20 years, closed its doors in late 2025. The gallery specialized in modern and contemporary art, as well as historic works from the Taos Society of Artists.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The Harwood Museum plans to renovate the space and open it to the public by 2027.
