Harmattan AI, a French artificial intelligence company backed by Dassault Aviation, has announced a partnership with the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces (FAR) to produce autonomous defense systems locally. The agreement, signed on June 18, 2026, includes the establishment of a research center dedicated to military AI and cooperation on autonomous technologies.
According to the company's press release, the deal aims to enhance Morocco's defense capabilities through local production of AI-driven systems. Harmattan AI, which specializes in autonomous drones and AI software, will work with FAR to develop and manufacture these systems within Morocco.
This partnership marks a significant step in Franco-Moroccan defense cooperation. The research center will focus on advancing AI applications for military use, including autonomous navigation and decision-making systems. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
