Moroccan international defender Achraf Hakimi has declared his team's determination to win the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) "by any means necessary." The Paris Saint-Germain star made the comments in an interview, emphasizing the squad's ambition following their historic run to the 2022 World Cup semi-finals.
The 2025 AFCON is scheduled to be hosted by Morocco, marking the first time the nation will stage the tournament since 1988. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) officially awarded the hosting rights to Morocco in September 2024.
Hakimi, a key figure for the Atlas Lions, stated that the team is fully focused on securing the continental title on home soil. His remarks underscore the heightened expectations surrounding the Moroccan national team after their recent international successes.
The tournament is set to take place in the summer of 2025, a shift from the traditional January-February schedule. Morocco will be looking to win their first AFCON title since 1976.
