On May 13, 2026, a center of excellence for green hydrogen was officially launched at the Γcole Hassania des Travaux Publics (EHTP) in Casablanca, Morocco. The initiative aims to advance research and training in green hydrogen technologies, supporting Morocco's energy transition goals.
The center was inaugurated in partnership with the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, as well as several academic and industrial partners. It will focus on developing innovative solutions for hydrogen production, storage, and utilization, with an emphasis on renewable energy sources.
According to officials, the center will host state-of-the-art laboratories and provide specialized training programs for engineers and researchers. This aligns with Morocco's National Hydrogen Strategy, which targets producing 3 million tons of green hydrogen annually by 2030.
The launch event included demonstrations of electrolysis technologies and discussions on the potential of green hydrogen to decarbonize industries such as fertilizers, steel, and transportation. The center is expected to become a regional hub for hydrogen innovation in Africa.
