The Greater Nebbi Elders Council (GNEC), an umbrella body for elders from Nebbi, Zombo, and Pakwach districts in Uganda, has officially launched its district and parish-level committees. The launch ceremony was held at the council's headquarters in Nebbi Town on March 28, 2026, as part of a broader strategy to enhance grassroots coordination for development initiatives.

According to the council's leadership, the newly formed committees are tasked with mobilizing communities, identifying local needs, and ensuring the effective implementation of government and NGO programs. The GNEC aims to bridge the gap between local populations and development partners, focusing on areas such as agriculture, education, and infrastructure.

The launch event was attended by local government officials, cultural leaders, and representatives from various community-based organizations. The GNEC Chairman emphasized that the decentralized structure is intended to foster inclusive participation and accountability in development projects across the three districts.
