Chinese battery manufacturer Gotion High-Tech has announced that its factory under construction in Kenitra, Morocco, could begin production before any of its other overseas facilities. The company, a key supplier for electric vehicle makers, is building the plant as part of a broader global expansion strategy.
According to a statement from Gotion High-Tech, the Morocco complex is progressing rapidly and may be the first among its international projects to reach operational status. The factory is expected to produce lithium-ion batteries for the growing African and European markets.
The Moroccan government has supported the project as part of its push to become a regional hub for electric vehicle manufacturing. The plant is located in the Atlantic Free Zone near Kenitra, about 40 kilometers north of Rabat.
