Glenn Irwin has expressed confidence ahead of the upcoming British Superbike Championship round at Donington Park, citing lessons learned from a challenging weekend at Oulton Park. The rider, who competes for the Honda Racing UK team, noted that the adversity faced at Oulton Park has put him in a strong position to perform well at Donington.
At Oulton Park, Irwin experienced a difficult set of races, including a crash in race one that forced him to retire. However, he bounced back with a solid performance in race two, finishing in the top ten. These experiences, he says, have helped him refine his setup and approach for the Donington round.
Irwin highlighted the importance of adapting to track conditions and learning from mistakes. 'The team and I have worked hard to understand what went wrong at Oulton Park, and we've made adjustments that should pay off at Donington,' he stated. The Donington Park circuit is known for its fast corners and technical sections, which Irwin believes suit his riding style.
The British Superbike Championship continues to be highly competitive, with Irwin currently positioned in the top half of the standings. The Donington Park round is scheduled for the weekend of May 16-17, 2026, and Irwin aims to secure podium finishes to boost his championship campaign.
