A 10-year-old girl from Queensland, Australia, suffered facial burns after microwaving a counterfeit NeeDoh fidget toy, which exploded. The incident occurred when the child, Violet, heated the toy for a few seconds, causing it to expand and burst, leaving her with second-degree burns.
Her father, who shared a warning on social media to alert other parents, was met with a wave of online harassment. Many commenters blamed him for not supervising his daughter, while others questioned the authenticity of the story. The father stated he posted the warning to prevent similar accidents.
NeeDoh, a popular squishy toy, is not designed for microwave use. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has previously warned about the risks of heating such toys. The family has since urged parents to only purchase authentic products and to supervise children's play.
