The company's latest research indicates that while cloud adoption is accelerating, many organizations lack the necessary governance frameworks to manage associated risks effectively.
According to a Genetec survey of over 5,500 security professionals across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific, a significant portion of organizations are moving sensitive data like video surveillance footage to the cloud. However, the report, titled "The State of Cloud Adoption in Physical Security," found that 35% of respondents admitted their organization lacks a clear cloud adoption strategy, creating potential security gaps.
Genetec emphasizes that strong governance, including clear data ownership policies, access controls, and compliance measures, is critical. The company advocates for a "shared responsibility" model where both the cloud service provider and the customer understand their specific security obligations to protect against data breaches and unauthorized access.
