Gardaí have announced a crackdown on juvenile gangs involved in dangerous driving, including driving on the wrong side of the road, in County Kildare. The operation comes after a series of incidents that have raised public safety concerns.
According to Garda sources, the crackdown targets a notorious network of teenage criminals known for reckless behavior. The initiative involves increased patrols and surveillance in hotspot areas.
Separately, senior officials have expressed concerns about the lack of space at Oberstown, the State's only detention centre for children, located in north Dublin. The facility is reportedly under pressure to accommodate young offenders.
The Garda crackdown aims to address both the immediate safety risks and the underlying issues of juvenile crime. Community leaders have welcomed the move but call for long-term solutions, including investment in youth services.
