SEOUL, April 13 (Yonhap) -- The Galleries Art Fair, also known as the Hwarang Art Fair, concluded its 2026 edition on Sunday, drawing approximately 50,000 visitors over its five-day run at the COEX in Seoul, organizers announced.
The fair, which featured works from 120 domestic and international galleries, reported strong sales in the mid-price range, between 10 million and 100 million won (approximately $7,300 to $73,000 USD). Organizers noted a particular interest in paintings and sculptures from emerging and mid-career artists.
The event served as a key barometer for the domestic art market's current health, with gallery representatives expressing cautious optimism about sustained collector interest despite broader economic uncertainties. The fair also included special exhibitions and talks aimed at broadening public engagement with contemporary art.
