French judicial authorities have opened an investigation for kidnapping and sequestration following the disappearance of Clément Besneville in Rabat, Morocco. The Paris prosecutor's office confirmed the investigation was initiated on April 3, 2026.

Besneville, a French national, was reported missing after he failed to return from a trip to the Moroccan capital in mid-March 2026. His family lost contact with him around March 15. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance remain unclear, and Moroccan authorities are also involved in the search.

The investigation in France is being handled by the Central Office for the Fight against Organized Crime (OCLCO). French prosecutors stated the probe is focused on determining the facts and identifying those potentially responsible for his disappearance.

As of April 7, 2026, Besneville's whereabouts are still unknown. The case has drawn attention to the safety of foreign nationals in the region, though no specific motive has been publicly confirmed by investigating authorities.
