French sports journalist Vanessa Le Moigne has publicly detailed the severe cyberbullying and death threats she and her family received following the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final. The final, held on February 9, 2025, saw Morocco defeat Senegal 2-0 in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

In an interview with French magazine Femme Actuelle published on March 18, 2026, Le Moigne stated that the online abuse began after she commented on the match. She reported receiving thousands of hateful messages, including direct threats against her children's lives, which she described as deeply traumatic.

The journalist, who works for Canal+, highlighted the toxic environment that can surround major sporting events, particularly on social media. She emphasized the psychological impact on media professionals and called for greater accountability for online harassment.

Le Moigne's case has drawn attention to the issue of cyberviolence against journalists in France. While she did not specify which fan base the threats originated from, the incident underscores the intense rivalry and sometimes dangerous passions ignited by international football tournaments.
