French cyclist Jules Muzard has won the 2026 edition of the grueling Silk Road Mountain Race (SRMR). The event is a self-supported bikepacking race covering approximately 4,000 kilometers through the mountains of Kyrgyzstan.
Muzard completed the challenging course, which features over 65,000 meters of elevation gain, in a time of 10 days, 16 hours, and 28 minutes. He crossed the finish line in the city of Osh on April 1, 2026.
The SRMR is known as one of the world's toughest bikepacking races, requiring riders to navigate remote terrain, carry all their own gear, and find food and water along the route without external support.
In post-race comments, Muzard described the experience as exceptional, highlighting the physical and mental demands of racing through the high-altitude landscapes of the Tian Shan mountain range.
