The French Football Federation (FFF) has confirmed that the France U23 national team will not participate in the 2026 Maurice Revello Tournament. France was the defending champion, having won the 2023 edition of the prestigious youth football competition.
According to the FFF, the decision was made due to a congested international calendar. The tournament dates, typically in late May and early June, conflict with other commitments for the age group, including potential involvement with senior national team preparations.
The Maurice Revello Tournament, formerly known as the Toulon Tournament, is a major international youth football event. The 2026 edition is scheduled to be held in the south of France from May 29 to June 11. The organizers have announced that 12 nations will compete, with France's spot being taken by another team.
This absence marks a significant change for the tournament, where France has been a frequent participant and a record seven-time winner. The focus will now shift to other contenders like Ivory Coast, the 2024 champion, and other invited nations for the 2026 competition.
