Fort Riley, Kansas, has unveiled a new permanent memorial called the Hall of Heroes to honor soldiers from the 1st Infantry Division who died during operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. The installation, located in the division's headquarters, features individual plaques for each fallen soldier.
The memorial was dedicated in a ceremony attended by military leaders, veterans, and family members of the honored soldiers. It serves as a place of reflection and remembrance for the Big Red One community.
According to Fort Riley officials, the Hall of Heroes is intended to ensure the sacrifices of these service members are never forgotten. The 1st Infantry Division has a long history of deployments to conflict zones over the past two decades.
