On April 22, 2026, the Mohammed VI Foundation for Science and Health (FM6SS) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Vienna, Austria. The agreement aims to strengthen collaboration in health sciences, particularly in the use of nuclear techniques for medical applications.
The partnership focuses on capacity building, research, and the application of nuclear technology in healthcare, including cancer diagnosis and treatment. This aligns with the IAEA's 'Rays of Hope' initiative, which supports low- and middle-income countries in expanding access to radiotherapy and nuclear medicine.
FM6SS President Dr. Mohamed El Kettani and IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi signed the accord. The foundation, based in Casablanca, Morocco, operates a university hospital and research centers dedicated to health sciences.
This agreement is expected to facilitate training programs, joint research projects, and the exchange of expertise between Moroccan and international health professionals. It marks a step forward in Morocco's efforts to enhance its healthcare infrastructure through international partnerships.
