PITTSBURGH -- The Philadelphia Flyers remain confident despite failing to close out their first-round series against the Pittsburgh Penguins for the second straight game, losing 4-2 in Game 5 on Monday night at PPG Paints Arena.
The Penguins, who avoided elimination with a Game 4 win in Philadelphia, now trail the series 3-2. The Flyers had a chance to sweep the series but have dropped two consecutive games.
"We're still in a good spot," said Flyers forward Sean Couturier. "We have a 3-2 lead going home. We just need to play our game and close it out."
The Penguins' Sidney Crosby scored a goal and added an assist, while goaltender Tristan Jarry made 32 saves. The Flyers' Carter Hart stopped 28 shots in the loss.
Game 6 is scheduled for Wednesday night in Philadelphia, where the Flyers will have another opportunity to advance to the second round.
