At the Final Fantasy 14 Fan Festival held on April 24, 2026, Square Enix revealed that the popular MMORPG will launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 in August 2026. The announcement was confirmed by producer Naoki Yoshida during the event.
The Switch 2 version will feature cross-play with existing platforms, including PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. However, it introduces a new subscription tier: a 'Starter Edition' that includes the base game and first two expansions at a reduced monthly fee, while the full game requires the standard subscription.
Square Enix stated that the Switch 2 version will support 60 frames per second in docked mode and 30 FPS in handheld mode, with graphical settings optimized for the console's hardware. Pre-orders are expected to open in June 2026.
