Fifa tripled the price of its best available tickets to the World Cup final, making $32,970 seats available on Thursday for the 19 July match at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The governing body listed those seats as Front Category 1, a new premium tier that was not previously offered at that price point.
The price hike drew immediate criticism from U.S. politicians, including Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), who called the pricing 'outrageous' and questioned Fifa's commitment to accessibility. The tournament, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, is scheduled to run from June 11 to July 19, 2026.
Fifa defended the pricing, stating that the Front Category 1 tickets include exclusive amenities such as premium seating, dedicated entry, and hospitality services. The organization noted that a range of other ticket categories remain available at lower prices, starting at $110 for group-stage matches.
The 2026 World Cup marks the first time the tournament will be hosted by three nations, with 48 teams competing across 16 venues. MetLife Stadium, which will host the final, has a capacity of 82,500 seats.
