The Gabonese Football Federation (FGF) has issued a formal statement denying it has filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) regarding the final of the 1976 Africa Cup of Nations. Persistent rumors had suggested the federation was seeking to overturn the tournament's result, where Morocco defeated Guinea in the final.

In a communication published on its official channels, the FGF labeled these rumors as "false information" and stated it has not initiated any legal proceedings at CAS. The federation emphasized its focus remains on current and future football development in Gabon.

The 1976 AFCON, hosted by Ethiopia, saw Morocco win its first continental title. The tournament format involved a final group stage instead of a knockout final, with Morocco topping the group ahead of Guinea. Historical sporting results are rarely contested through legal channels decades after the fact.

The FGF's denial aims to put an end to the speculation, which had circulated primarily on social media. No other national football association involved in the 1976 tournament has indicated any similar legal action.
