FBI Director Christopher Wray praised the security commitment of nations participating in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, including Morocco, during a press conference on June 17, 2026. The tournament, co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, marks the first time Morocco will compete as a host nation participant.
Wray highlighted the extensive security preparations, noting that the FBI has been working closely with international partners to ensure the safety of the event. 'The cooperation we've seen from all participating nations, especially Morocco, has been exemplary,' Wray said. He emphasized the importance of sharing intelligence and resources to counter potential threats.
The 2026 World Cup, scheduled from June 11 to July 19, will feature 48 teams across 16 host cities in North America. Morocco, which qualified for the tournament, has been actively involved in security drills and information sharing with U.S. authorities.
Security measures include enhanced border controls, cyber threat monitoring, and coordination with local law enforcement. The FBI has deployed additional agents to key locations to support the effort.
