A rare 1995 McLaren F1 GTR, once owned by Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason, is set to be auctioned by RM Sotheby's on August 15, 2026. The car, known by its chassis number '10R', is one of only 28 F1 GTRs built for racing and features a distinctive 'pop art' livery.
Mason, a well-known car enthusiast, owned the vehicle for several years before selling it. The car has a rich racing history, having competed in the BPR Global GT Series in the mid-1990s. It is expected to fetch a record price for a McLaren F1 GTR, with estimates ranging from $10 million to $15 million.
The McLaren F1 GTR is powered by a 6.1-liter V12 engine producing around 600 horsepower, and it famously won the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans in its class. This particular example has been meticulously maintained and is eligible for historic racing events.
RM Sotheby's will hold the auction during its Monterey Car Week event in California. The sale presents a rare opportunity for collectors to acquire a piece of motorsport and rock history.
