A recent survey conducted on behalf of the European Commission indicates that a majority of EU citizens believe the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) is delivering on its promises. The findings were published in the latest Eurobarometer report on agriculture and the CAP.
According to the survey, most respondents across the European Union agree that the CAP plays a key role in supporting farmers, ensuring food security, and promoting sustainable agricultural practices. The results reflect public confidence in the policy's ability to address current challenges facing the agricultural sector.
The CAP is one of the EU's oldest and most significant common policies, accounting for a substantial share of the EU budget. It provides direct support to farmers, funds rural development projects, and sets environmental standards for agriculture across member states.
The survey results come as the EU continues to implement reforms aimed at making European agriculture more sustainable and resilient, in line with the goals of the European Green Deal and the Farm to Fork Strategy.
