The European Parliament's Committee on Transport and Tourism has scheduled for June 3, 2026, in Brussels, the examination of a protocol to adapt the Euro-Mediterranean air agreement concluded with Morocco to Croatia's accession to the European Union. The protocol aims to extend the existing air transport liberalization framework to include Croatia as a full party.
The Euro-Mediterranean air agreement between the EU and Morocco, signed in 2006 and in force since 2012, gradually opened the air transport market, allowing any EU airline to operate flights between the EU and Morocco. Croatia joined the EU in 2013, necessitating this technical adjustment to ensure seamless integration.
The protocol, once approved by the European Parliament and the Council, will allow Croatian airlines to benefit from the same market access rights as other EU carriers. The committee's review is a standard procedural step in the ratification process.
No opposition to the protocol is expected, as it is considered a routine technical update. The full Parliament is likely to vote on the matter later in June.
