Musicians Melissa Etheridge and Chris Stapleton have released a rare duet titled "One Way Out." The song appears on Etheridge's new album, "I'm Not Broken," and was directly inspired by the death of her son, Beckett Cypher, who died in 2020 at age 21 from causes related to opioid addiction.

Etheridge discussed the collaboration in interviews, stating she wrote the song about her grief and journey toward healing. She specifically wanted Stapleton, known for his soulful voice, to join her on the track, feeling his delivery would perfectly complement the song's emotional weight.

The album "I'm Not Broken" was released in August 2024. Etheridge has been open about using her music to process the loss of her son and to connect with others affected by the opioid crisis.
