According to the Met Office forecast, Essex will experience a hot and sunny day with highs of 30°C in inland areas, while coastal regions may see slightly lower temperatures due to sea breezes. The alert warns that the heat could pose health risks, particularly for vulnerable groups such as the elderly, young children, and those with pre-existing medical conditions.
The UKHSA advises people to stay hydrated, keep out of the sun during peak hours (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.), and check on vulnerable neighbors. The Met Office also notes that temperatures are expected to drop slightly on Thursday, with a chance of thundery showers later in the week.
