The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has approved a €100 million loan to Morocco's National Airports Office (ONDA) to finance the modernization and expansion of airport infrastructure across the country. The decision was announced on July 17, 2026, following the EBRD Board of Directors meeting.
The loan will support upgrades at several Moroccan airports, including Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport, Marrakech Menara Airport, and Agadir Al Massira Airport. Projects include terminal expansions, runway renovations, and the installation of energy-efficient systems to reduce carbon emissions.
This financing is part of the EBRD's Green Economy Transition approach, aiming to help Morocco meet its climate goals under the Paris Agreement. The loan is expected to be disbursed in multiple tranches over the next three years, with ONDA contributing co-financing from its own resources.
Morocco's aviation sector has seen steady growth, with passenger traffic reaching 25 million in 2025, up 8% from the previous year. The upgrades aim to increase capacity to 35 million passengers annually by 2030.
